It is time for better products to replace our existing ones. We believe in the power of design to develop concepts for such new products.

The Green Concept Award is aimed at young designers and creative undergraduate and graduate students who want to develop their idea and, ideally, bring it to the market. Obviously, students of other semesters and faculties are also invited.

The Green Concept Award supports participants in the idea phase (with inspirations, workshops and impulse lectures), the development of ideas (with sponsors) and the presentation of their projects (final workshop, pitch events, exhibitions, matchmaking).

Who is behind the project? The initiators of the Green Product Award and the IKEA Foundation have decided not to retrospectively evaluate ideas and concepts, but to support young designers in the process of their product or service development. They lead the project in 2018. Media and trade fair partners and a growing number of "special and regional partners" support the project.

Schedule

May-July: workshops and information events in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, ... drafting and adapting the concepts (attending the workshops is recommended but not a condition for participating in the award).
31.07: Deadline for the submission of the concepts via the online platform
17.08: Selection of concepts for exhibitions and / or pitches
07.09: Award ceremony in Berlin
22.10: Start of the exhibitions on the DESIGNERS' OPEN

Supporting Project: Workshops

On five free workshops, we develop an idea with the participants into a green design concept with a business model.

Information about the workshops as well as links to Eventbrite stations will follow shortly.

The Green Concept Award and the series of workshops are organized in cooperation with the IKEA Foundation.

Green Start-Up-Support
We support lone fighters and teams with sustainable ideas in their strive to, as a start-up, get their sustainable ideas to the market.
Business case testing and development, elaboration of positioning, accompaniment during the funding.

Green Product-Challenges
In addition to the Award, we lead the network for sustainable ideas through competitions. We have developed a transparent, multi-step process to achieve the highest level of quality step by step. Compared to conventional competitions, the time required by the participants of the GPCs is drastically reduced.
Through feedback phases, the skills of all participants increase, through the assortment of interdisciplinary teams, knowledge exchange between participants is encouraged.
