Alpinista

Upcycled paraglider into empowering outdoorwear

Having grown up in a mountain area, I used my experience with alpine sports to create 'Alpinista', a collection of functional outdoorwear, created with up-cycled paraglider fabric. The lightweight collection provides wearers a sense of protection and security. All designs are based on anatomical studies of the body and focuses on comfort and empowerment. The garments are designed to refer to safety equipment such as a harness, to stimulate and challenge the wearers' desire to go outside, be active and self-confident.

My Name is Elèna Kostner. June 2022 I graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven, where I created ‚Alpinista’ a collection of functional outdoor-wear, created with recycled paraglider fabric. The collection came together after experimenting with used climbing ropes, paraglider ropes and their ripstop nylon fabric. The lightweight collection provides wearers a sense of protection and security while focusing on comfort and empowerment.
