The Brio project is a design concept where plastic-eating insects, like mealworms and morio worms, transform polystyrene waste into functional art objects. Guided by the designer, the insects shape discarded polystyrene (often considered non-recyclable) into unique patterns, which are then cast into objects like vases and bespoke knives. This process redefines waste materials, creating eco-conscious art that encourages us to rethink material consumption and the role of insects in design.
