SOLINA
Growing Photovoltaics
SOLINA consists of flexible solar modules for balcony solar systems based on organic photovoltaics (OPV). The innovative technology and sculptural aesthetics create a new approach to energy generation through photovoltaics. The ‘growing’ and bifacial, i.e. active on both sides, solar structure generates a large surface area for electricity generation on a relatively small footprint. However, the focus is not on efficiency and yield, but on beauty, emotion and the positive narrative of the energy transition!

The Kunsthochschule Kassel is an internationally oriented art school that brings together academic, artistic, and art educational programs. Since it has the right to confer doctorates and Habilitationen, it is one of only a few art schools in Germany with university status.
Around 1.000 students including master-class students are currently enrolled in the programs in Visual Arts, Visual Communication (final artistic exam), Product Design (diploma degree), Art Education (teaching profession), and Art History and Aesthetics.

Manuel Merl
Manuel Merl ist Produktdesigner mit Fokus auf Form- und Materialinnovation.
Von 2016 bis 2024 studierte er Produktdesign an der Kunsthochschule Kassel. Zudem kann er auf die Erfahrung einer Berufsausbildung und mehrjähriger Tätigkeit im Bereich der Veranstaltungstechnik zurückgreifen.
Das Diplomstudium ermöglichte ihm eine vertiefte Auseinandersetzung mit den drängenden Herausforderungen unserer Zeit. Er ist überzeugt, dass Design bei der Bewältigung dieser Krisen und Aufgaben eine wichtige Rolle spielen kann und sollte.
