Felt the Future

walking with wool - circular shoes

Winner in category Fashion

Shoes have become throwaway products. Millions end up in german landfills annually due to complex material blends that prevent recycling. This project reimagines circular footwear through a radical monomaterial approach, using only wool: fully compostable, without synthetic materials, adhesives, or chemicals. Two contrasting prototypes, a handsewn Brogue and a CNC-milled clog demonstrate how traditional shoemaking and digital fabrication create durable, elegant shoes that return completely to nature.

“Felt the Future” shows how innovation can emerge from rethinking materials. By combining traditional craftsmanship with CNC milling, the project highlights the versatility of wool. Nearly entirely made of wool, the prototypes represent circular economic thinking, material efficiency, and regional value creation. Truly a visionary contribution to sustainable footwear design.
