Hit the wheels

La forma sigue a los tapacubos

"Hit the wheels" se ocupa del reciclaje de tapacubos. Se encuentran en los arcenes y en la carretera. El material de partida del proyecto no procede de un ciclo existente, es fácilmente accesible y se puede encontrar en la región. Los deformé térmicamente y luego refiné la superficie con tintes naturales obtenidos de madera azul, raíz de rubia, semillas de achiote y flores de malva negra. Sumergí los tapacubos directamente en la solución colorante o teñí fibras de lyocell y las pegué. A varios tapacubos les di la estabilidad necesaria utilizando alambres de acero y abrazaderas de cable metálico ya existentes.

Katharina Matejcek is a Berlin based product designer and carpenter. She is particularly interested in sustainable design, combined with environmentally friendly materials and resource-saving production methods. She moves between design, craftsmanship and art. After graduating from high school, she trained as a carpenter and worked in the profession for another year. She then decided to pursue her passion for design and successfully completed her product design studies at the Berlin University of the Arts in March 2024.
