Bal Tash'rit

Connecting materials, durability and identity
Vote now

Bal Tash’rit is a Jewish precept meaning ‘do not waste’. Guided by this principle, I created a design methodology that explores high-quality materials through a sustainable lens. Taking into account the lifespan of leather and wood, and reducing leather waste by over 70% compared to the industry average, this set of furniture is an exploration of closed-loop material cycles and scalability that considers durability enhanced by craftsmanship. Through this systemic approach, the project maximizes the potential of natural materials and minimizes waste.

As an Artist, I weave materials, systems, and aesthetics both in the physical and digital world. I explore closed-loop material cycles and scalable solutions that prioritize craftsmanship. By collaborating with skilled artisans, I examine each machine, tool, and gesture to generate new methodologies, modern expressions of sustainability and nature inclusive design
