该灯是为那些生活在离网、可持续和自给自足社区的人设计的。该灯是开放的，可以进行修改，以适应各种使用情况，用户可以添加个性化的扩展，如挂钩，以悬挂或安装该设备。当连接充电器和太阳能电池板时，电池将被充电，但对于仅仅运行该灯来说是没有必要的。微控制器使用户能够调节灯的强度，以及切换夜间模式，只在黑暗时段开灯。在离网生活时，节约能源是一种宝贵的资源。
