Nomad

Solar-powered portable ambient lamp

Nomad is a portable solar lamp that is charged indoors by natural light. The symmetrical shape can be understood like an hourglass. Turning the luminaire over switches between the two modes: solar charging and ambient lighting. This new routine of solar charging is supported by a subtle LED display. This sun detector bar visualizes the light quality in a room. By moving around the room, the solar potential of one’s own four walls can be explored. As an autonomous object, Nomad draws on solar energy, a freely available sustainable resource and makes it usable on a small scale for indoor use.
